(Chicago, IL) In 2012, MGR Foundation will be launching its newest initiative, Peer Corps. Our Board of Directors has become increasingly concerned about the extremely high rate of recidivism for youth entering our juvenile detention centers. The Board quickly realized that this issue can no longer go unaddressed by our organization. In this spirit, Peer Corps was born. Peer Corps is a mentoring program for youth exiting the juvenile detention center. Paired with a caring and committed mentor, youth will spend over 10 hours every week participating in a myriad of youth development activities designed to change their lives. Whether volunteer through the CareTeam, running with Team M3, or creating art in Murals, these young people will turn their lives around by consistently participating in these amazing opportunities with their mentors. |
