The MGR Foundation is a public 501(c)3 organization based in Chicago committed to educating and assisting people from all walks of life. We seek to forge partnerships that better our global community while nurturing the talents of individuals. We have established relationships with several underserved communities throughout Chicago. Through our informal arts program, Murals, and successful at-risk tutoring program, THINK, we have reached many troubled teens and offered hope and guidance. Through our volunteer group, the Care Team, we have served hundreds of families, individuals and neighborhoods everywhere there is critical need. The following is a brief list of our events and accomplishments:
- Recruited over 142 students for our innovative tutoring/mentoring
program, THINK, serving at-risk youth in Chicago Public Schools.
- 30 seniors from our THINK program graduated high school and
were accepted to post secondary schools
- Created Murals, an informal arts program aimed at reaching the most troubled of youth. Through Hip-Hop, poetry and music, we communicate and inspire; offering positive messages and life-long lessons.
- Inspired over 700 volunteers to selflessly provide volunteer hours to the communities we serve.
- Planned and organized over 80 volunteer events a year to benefit local community centers, schools, parks and neighborhoods.
- Directly distributed gloves, hats, and other cold-weather gear to the working poor and homeless of Chicago. In this innovative event, we take to the streets with our volunteers to find and serve the needy, wherever they may be.
- Served monthly meals to local soup kitchens around Chicago including Dignity Diner, Marah's Kitchen, Inspiration Cafe, and Ronald McDonald House
- Beautified Chicago parks with volunteers from local businesses, universities, CPS, and the general public.
- Fireproofed over 100 homes in the Englewood community (an area which experiences the highest death rate in Illinois due to preventable home fires).
- Made Christmas wishes come true for over 250 needy children.
- Helped find loving homes for abandoned and stray puppies.
- Donated books and promoted literacy to groups of children from low income neighborhoods.
- Approved as an official Illlinois Supplemental Educational Service (SES) Provider based on our ability to provide high-quality research-based academic services to children that need it the most.
- Selected as a grantee for the Illinois Department of Human Services Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program
- Formed strategic partnerships with local and national businesses and fellow nonprofits, such as: Circle of Service Foundation, Scheck Industries, Citibank, Subway, Hard Rock Hotel, Special Olympics, The Abraham Lincoln Marovitz Lend-A-Hand Program, Deborah's Place, and Whole Foods
